Eiffel Tower FAQ

The questions travellers ask most, answered in plain English.

How much does it cost to visit the Eiffel Tower?

Adult lift tickets to the summit are around €29. Lift to the 2nd floor is around €22, and the stairs to the 2nd floor are around €14. Under-4s go free. Always check the official website for live prices.

What is the best time to visit the Eiffel Tower?

The first lift of the day (around 09:00–09:30) and after 21:00 are the quietest. Sunset gives you the city in daylight, then the sparkling lights at night — the best of both.

How long does a visit take?

Allow 2 to 3 hours if you're going up to the summit, including security and lift queues. Just the 2nd floor by stairs can be done in about 90 minutes.

Do I need to book Eiffel Tower tickets in advance?

Yes — book online at least a week ahead in peak season. Same-day slots often sell out, especially for the summit.

Is there food at the top?

Yes. There are snack bars on the 1st and 2nd floors, the Michelin-starred Jules Verne restaurant on the 2nd floor, and a champagne bar at the summit.

Can I bring a bag or a picnic?

Small bags are allowed and go through airport-style security. Large bags, suitcases and glass bottles are not. You can picnic on the Champ de Mars at the tower's feet.

Is photography allowed?

Yes, personal photos and videos are welcome anywhere. Note that the tower's night-time light show is copyrighted, so commercial use of night photos technically requires permission.

Is the Eiffel Tower wheelchair accessible?

The esplanade, 1st and 2nd floors are accessible by lift. The summit is not accessible. Arrive via RER C or bus, as the nearest Métro stations are not step-free.
